White Barns is a print of an original pastel painting that was the culmination of two series of a beautiful spot in Montague at the corner of Old Greenfield Road and Court Square. The first series of paintings housed realistic depictions of the buildings. The second series, from which White Barns hails, is more impressionistic than realistic, more of a sense of place then the goal of 'getting it right'. The wonderful thing about doing series, a fairly new phenomenon for me, is what I discover and develop as I paint several versions of the same place or thing. I go into the paintings with focus and an awareness of what I'm trying to achieve but also with a wonderful sense of adventure. White Barns is symbolic of a great adventure!
