Barn Dance is an original pastel painting done en plein air, down the road, and around the bend from my house. Despite obvious challenges of painting outdoors, it is the "true school" for painting. At least for this painter. I paint so differenlty outdoors, more instinctive, less analytical, than I do in my studio. Don't get me wrong, I love painting in my studio too but the work I do in the studio is directly influenced and supported by outside observations with my tripod and pochade box in hand.

Painting in my "neighborhood" always reminds me how very blessed I am to live where I do. Beauty surrounds me here. Barn Dance measures 9" x 12" and 12" x 15" in the frame.
