White Barns Miniature Original is a pastel painting in a series of studies that got more interesting, and by that I mean more impressionistic, as I went. This was a small, timed study of a spot on my morning walk just after I take the right off of Old Greenfield Rd. onto Court Square in Montague. The first series I painted of this location was detailed and realistic. With the muscle memory of those paintings I was freed up to make some edits and indulge myself in creative license. I just focused on the warmth of the light and the cool of the shadows, the solidity of the barns and the flow of the trees and road. White Barns measures 3" x 4" and is sold unframed.
